WELCOME
TO
SHARON JOHNSTON SWIM TEAM
Sharon Johnston Swim Team (SJST), a member of the Rocket City Swim League (RCSL), is commonly called a “summer” league, as our swim season is from the end of May until the middle of July when the city meet is held. There are three divisions (A, B and C) in the RCSL. The “A” division comprises the highest scoring teams, then “B” and finally “C.” The points scored at the City Meet places each team in the appropriate division for the next year.

SJST is called the Tornadoes. We chose this name when a tornado destroyed the Sharon Johnston pool in 1997.

2025 SIGNUPS
Thank you for your interest in the Sharon Johnston Swim Team.
As of this posting, Sharon Johnston Park is undergoing a huge construction project that, when finished, will include new pool offices, new showers & bathrooms, a large gymnasium, and new paved parking all around the complex.
Recently, the contractor over this 2-year project informed us that it will be necessary to keep the pool closed for the 2025 summer. Therefore, for this summer only, we will have a completely different swim practice schedule.

Please know that we will definitely have a swim team for this summer.
With the pool not opening for this summer, Sharon Johnston Swim Team (SJST) will not be accepting any “new swimmers” who do
not have previous competitive swimming experience.
SJST will be accepting signup applications from
only these groups:
-
All returning swim team members from last year. (You must be able to swim the 25 yard length of the pool).
-
Anyone who previously swam for a different swim team, either locally or out-of-the-area. This includes a high school swim team.
-
Anyone who completed Coach Glenn’s most recent ten-week Stroke Class (Feb-Apr) and if you can swim the length of the pool.

If you are a returning SJST swimmer (who swam last year), please check your email. The details of our upcoming swim practice schedule will be there.
Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
Thank you.

TEAM SURVIVAL GUIDE
We have put together a Survival Guide that contains some very important information for our swimmers and their families. This Survival Guide is contained in the following pages but can be also be printed. This Survival Guide has everything you ever wanted to know about how to swim, swimming for a swim team, swim meets and being a parent volunteer. Please take the time to review this Survival Guide, even if you are a seasoned swimmer or parent and browse the following web pages. You may learn something you didn’t know!

DONATIONS
Sharon Johnston Swim Team is a nonprofit organization. The people that make this organization a success, do so as volunteers or with minimal salary (as in the case of the coaches). Throughout the course of the year, the team finds that they may need certain items that can’t be afforded due to lack of budgeting. We have put together a wish list of items that are needed. If any of our parents would like to donate any of these items, please contact the board President prior to donating items.
